Stephen
Welcome and hello! I'm Stephen, from Bend, Oregon. I'm a professional illustrator, fine artist, and art teacher. These days I'm living near Sacramento in California.
Most influential to my artistic aesthetic and development are Walt Disney's Nine Old Men and Sylvain Chomet, Ralph Steadman and Quentin Blake, Henri de Toulouse Lautrec and those like him, Michelangelo and Bouguereau, John Singer Sargent, Banksy, and Bernie Fuchs (but the list goes on and continues to grow). A bit of a chameleon stylistically, my general approach when working is to use the medium(s) and style that best suit the subject matter and mood of the thing.
In college, I studied fine art, and music theory and composition. I studied Illustration (visual development/concept art) at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and since my graduate studies, I have been working as a freelance illustrator, graphic artist, and as an art instructor, both privately and in-studio.
I hope you enjoy my website. New artwork *should* appear periodically, so check back every now and again. If you'd like to see what project(s) I'm currently working on, feel free to visit my StudioBlog, where I post my process work and notions.
